Armor Drops (That’s the old version of Monster Memories) will no longer be redeemable on PAD Radar after 11/14 (Thu) 11:59pm JST. Note that this does not affect 3DS version of PAD (PAD Cross).

Armor Drops were plastic toys that have QR codes at the back, which you can scan and redeem cards and use them in PAD Cross (3DS), PAD Radar, and/or PAD main game. This was how a number of cool cards, such as Dark Athena and Fire Myr were initially distributed.

These are not affected

Only the following set of Armor Drops are unaffected by this change, as they are the remaining ones in circulation. No Monster Memories are affected by this. (So that’s the newer Monster Memory sets (which includes all RL gacha like Dark Radra, Light Bastet etc.)

Thoughts

Since Armor Drop changed over to Monster Memories in March 2018, it’s nice that they continued support for this long. Now that Monster Memories also moved from a plastic toy (Light Bastet for example) to regular card (as in Light Myr), we could see more Eco-friendly products coming out in future.

Alternatively, it could mean changes will be happening to PAD Radar in the near future, whether it’s positive or not. With PAD Gold coming soon on Switch, it does make many players wonder whether it will overlap with, or simply replace PAD Radar. It’s really hard to say at this point, but I do think GungHo need to step up their game on PAD Radar with less lag (especially orb movements) and more card balancing. PADR can certainly do much better than this.
