Links & Game Resources

These are resources on the Japanese version of PAD, and is pretty much the PAD JP Ultimate Start-up Guide, and contains translations information, and guides for everyone. Enjoy!

Special thanks to: Appgle for some screenshots, rawrzcookie for writing up a guide, An00bis32 and RMagic for helping out on the iTunes account guide, Ancientmews and Paulo for suggestions.

[modtime], with a few more resources.

Downloading & Updating PAD

First time downloading PAD? See here for a startup guide on downloading PAD.

Updating PAD

  • iOS: You will need to login to the Japanese account you have created, and head to App Store Update tab. Swipe down to reload the page, and you should see PAD update there.
    • Similar idea if you’re updating NA version of PAD – Be sure to be in the right region of App Store.
  • Android: If your Play Store region isn’t Japan (most likely the case), then you need to either download the update through QooApp, or download the APK file for the Japanese version separately and install it.
    • Honestly QooApp is amazing and can save you hassle to look for APK every time.

Some sites to find APK file for PAD:

News and events (translated)

Need some Japanese PAD news, translated? Keep in mind that JP news is  1.5 – 2 months ahead  of Korea and North America servers.

Here’s where you find JP news:

Websites

  • Blogging Mama – Right here, yep, you’re here. It’s the blog version of the #JP_news_translated channel of PDX Discord server, but with easier searching capabilities and more complete.
  • Reddit – PAD Subreddit. The absolute fastest news possible, mostly posted by fether and ryulong. All news and events are tagged with [JP] and/or [news]. You will almost never find PADR news there.

Discord servers

  • PDX Discord server (Puzzle Dragon X) – at the #JP_news_translated channel (ran by me, with help of Cate, and Paulo). Started in May 2017, with news and events. This is the faster version of the blog. Same channel is mirrored on the PAD Community Server.
  • Puzzle Dragon X (PDX) news section – Only new monsters (that may affect NA server) are posted in the News section, no events are posted.

For NA News (official sites):

Official websites

These are official web pages from GungHo! Most of them are only in Japanese.

Event schedules & general information

Unofficial websites that has information you need, including event schedules and information on cards.

  • Skyozora (Chinese) – Taiwanese-based site, Chinese equivalent of PDX but for JP contents. All times shown are in Hong Kong/Taiwan times.
  • Game8 (Japanese) – Tier list, co-op boards, card analyses/ratings, and more.
  • GameWith (Japanese) – Similar to Game8, has news, tier list, co-op boards, card analyses/ratings.
  • PAD Unofficial Wiki パズル&ドラゴンズ非公式wiki (Japanese) – Wikipedia page for PAD JP. Basic guides, dungeons, etc.
  • Pazusoku パズ速 (Japanese)  – A Japanese blog-like site with quick updates and commentary.
  • Puzdlife パズドライフ (Japanese) – Quick news resource of anything PAD-related.
  • PAD-Plus パズドラ まとめぷらす (Japanese) – Another PAD news source, blog style. (Appears to have stopped updating since end of 2017…)
  • Pad Pad Blog (Chinese)  – A Chinese blog on PAD, ran by a non-IAP player from Hong Kong. Contains news and random information about dungeons, and popular videos. Also one of the most popular PAD blogs out there!

Daily dungeons & guerillas

Need to find out what dungeons are going on today?

  • You can now see this in-game, in the Others menu. (all in JST though)
  • Skyozora (Chinese) – equivalent to PDX, except no time zone changes (all Hong Kong/Taiwan time).
  • Front page of the blog has guerilla dungeons, at your local time or JST. Ensure that you’re looking at JP region too!
  • Miru Bot at various Discord servers – Use the  ^eventjp  command in the bot channels to see the daily guerillas (limited time dungeons) and how long until it starts. Bot developed by tactical_retreat.
  • Dadguide (English) – Android-only app also developed by tactical_retreat, still under beta development.
  • PADguide (English) – App available on iOS and Android, unfortunately seems to be abandoned (hence nicknamed Dedguide). If you want alarm for your guerillas and in local time zones, this used to be amazing.

Ranking dungeon related

Crown cutoff score tracking

  • Current crown cutoffs: JP Player Takenama took over and track crown cutoff scores! See the pinned post on his Twitter for graphs when a Ranking Dungeons is ongoing.
  • Older crown cutoffs (Prior to June 2018): Japanese player Sibonyan was the sole person working on charts to show current Ranking Dungeon cutoff scores, and predict the final cutoff score!

List of all ranking dungeons

  • See here for a compilation of Ranking Dungeons happened in JP, NA, and EU servers. Crown cutoff scores and top scores are included.

Tier lists

Just for general references. I personally do not rely on them since everyone has different play style and boxes. See here for the reasons why.

Keep in mind that some of the lists are weighed more towards selected dungeons, such as higher difficulties of Ultimate Arena.

Discuss in English / Find English friends

There are a bunch of English-speaking players but are in different platforms. Most of the discussion happen on Discord servers or Facebook groups.

#jp_discussion channel dedicated to JP-related discussions.
#pad_radar_discussions channel for PAD Radar discussions.
#lf_friends_jp channel to look for friends.

Finding friends (Japanese)

  • Short-term Friend Recruiting (Japanese) – Find friends depending on needs. Left bar shows different post boards, sorted by attributes, types, resists, groups, or certain leads.

Finding co-op

  • PAD Community Server has a (sorta quiet) #jp_coop channel dedicated to coop on JP server.
  • GameWith (Japanese) – Get started with this guide (by Sipstrus @ Comm server)
  • Game8 (Japanese) – Many boards for your needs. Look for open rooms, or post Room ID / Lead(s) / Floor of dungeon like everyone there (In Japanese)!

Google Translate may be useful. Refer to Sipstrus’ guide above for some formats in posting. Below are the basic boards available on Game8:

Japanese gift cards (for In-App Purchases)

Below are some sites suggested by various JP players outside Japan, especially for those on iOS devices since region locked. Most of them send the gift code by email. This list is in no particular order, and there are many more sources out there for gift cards. You aren’t restricted to the options below!

Android devices: You can IAP in game without a gift card using credit card or PayPal, no matter what region of Play Store you’re using!

Miscellaneous

Other websites with tools that may interest you.

  • Facebook Cover Photo Generator – Create huge banner or signature with Skyozora’s photo generator! You can feature a monster, your common leaders, and your ID in the image. (Unfortunately not all cards are available…)
In my example above, Ed is the leader I’d always put up, and Yog-Sothoth is backup leaders that may be up sometimes.
  • PAD Resume (Japanese, translation included) – Useful image generator by GameWith for showing your most common leaders, amount IAP, type of player, and dungeon clear achievements.

PADW

PADW is the JP-only mini game found at the start screen of PAD. It’s a cute little game to get a few extra Magic Stones.

Things shared between PAD and PADW: Your PAD ID, Secret Code, name, Magic Stone count, friends.

PAD Radar

PAD Radar (PADR) is a complimentary app of PAD, to look for monsters, search for orbs and get rewards that can be claimed in PAD. This also has a player vs. player mode.

See my PAD Radar mini guide to see what PAD Radar is all about!
