Bomb Makers and Void Damage Penetration (VDP) [Updated on 8/24]

With Gintama collab on JP server, we finally have bomb-making active skills! Namely these two:

[4779] Justaway (ジャスタウェイ)

[4772] Katsura Handmade Bomb (桂手製の爆弾)

Are they Just-a-way to meme, or can we use them? Short post ahead!

Latest is this awesome tweet from paruparu (@arinogotoku), showcasing how to couple a full board with bomb to utilize Void Damage Penetration (VDP).

Board Setup

Since the active skill creates 3 random bombs, you have to move them in place. Here’s before and after bomb explosion – You’re left with 2 combos only, one of which is the 3×3 block needed to activate VDP awakening.

Note that each exploded bomb reduces HP by 20%, so 60% HP loss here.

What if you want more combos?

 @Zee_ikusane showed us how you can use [4772] Katsura Handmade Bomb to achieve that… using the 5-bomb making active. 20% of your HP is lost from bombs.

Board Setup

This time the bombs are spawned in set locations, super easy! Simply use Dios and the Bomb, and arrange as such to get 4 combos.

Interesting to see that the bombs don’t activate other bombs, haha.

He also applied this to make a 3×3 formation of Heal orbs for Super Bonus Attack awakening with similar board! Video here.

Other Uses

Zee-ikusane seemed to be having fun and used the bombs to clear orbs, which can be useful for leaders that requires less than a certain amount of orb remaining on board! Original Tweet here.

Thoughts

Isn’t it mind-blowing? 

For now it does appear to be more meme/niche uses than commonly useful, but I’m not surprised if farming teams will make use of this trick in the future.
