[Japan-Exclusive] The Real Life PAD Events: PAD Tournaments & GungHo Festival 2019!

Annual GungHo Festival returns! As before we have PAD Championship Cup too (featuring PAD Radar). Here are details so far on the real life events in Japan!

What’s GungHo Festival?

That’s GungHo’s annual event in Japan! Every year GungHo holds these festivals packed with events, free goodies (remember

Coca-Cola Tamadra?), and shop (with GungHo game merchandise and PAD goods, though last year they didn’t have any until Tokyo). Recall this was the event where we first learned about Borma and the other Spirit Numens.

The event is 6-7 hours long and held in selected malls on weekend/holidays, for 1 day only in each city. If you happen to be in any of the 7 cities in Japan on the day, check it out! It’s free admission!

Typically on the Tokyo day there are live stream with news as well (last year’s stream, for instance). So even if you aren’t in Japan, it’s an exciting event!

PAD Championship Cup

One big highlight in the GungHo Festival (aside from the PAD goods and news) is the PAD (Radar) competitions! Players play against each other in PAD Radar and win title or prizes, including money! Recall there are many tournaments with different tiers:

  • PAD Challenge Cup – For amateurs only, no professionals. Top players can receive PAD Pro License.
  • PAD Open Cup – With money prizes. Amateurs can participate in this too, but may not win money from it (pros can though).
  • PAD Champions Cup – The true professionals (9 total) play for money prizes. Highest tier of game-play.

PAD Challenge Cup @ GH Festival

At the moment they are looking for players for the PAD Challenge Cup (the amateur one), which will happen in the various locations of GungHo Festival above. Unfortunately this is for residents in Japan only

Anyways though, prizes for those entering will be 1 pack of Monster Memory (Random pack, containing 2 Monster Memories. Maybe a DRadra, Bathena, or friends!).

First place, of course, can proceed to the finals in Tokyo, a medal (why is it not rainbow?) and name card with your name and favorite PAD Monster on it. Second place receives… PAD goods, and depending on location may go to finals too. Not bad, maybe I should try as well, eh?

So that’s all we know for now – We’ll hear more about the festival as the dates approach! (Especially all those news!)
