Kinnikuman (JP: キン肉マン, literally means muscle man. NA: Ultimate Muscle) is a series created by Yudetamago (a team of 2 manga artists: Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada) in 1979. The muscular series debuted as a Manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, initially ran from 1979 to 1987, but a sequel has been ongoing since 2011. Currently there are 67 volumes of the manga published, and there’s even anime and film! This year is the series’ 40th anniversary!

The plot revolves around Kinnikuman, who is the lost prince of planet Kinniku. As the planet is known for producing the greatest superheroes of all times, the clumsy and foolish Kinnikuman goes onto wrestling tournaments to retain his title. During his journey he fights against lots of villains along with other superheroes.,

Fun fact: The series was initially made as a parody of Ultraman!
