Overview

Beach REM mainly existed as a way to see your favorite PaD waifus and husbandos in swimsuits and there were no significant buffs to make this worth rolling this year. It may seem easy to roll a diamond, but most of the diamonds aren’t actually useful. The only new cards introduced are of the highest rarity and thus it’s better to trade for them if you already have most of the rolls from previous years.

New Additions

Barbara & Julie

ジュリ

[4788] Promise of Summer Vacation, Barbara & Julie
夏休みの約束・バーバラ&ジュリ

Dragon / Machine

Active Skill: For 1 turn, reduce enemies’ defense to 0; Unlock all orbs; Change all orbs to and orbs (17 max CD)

Leader Skill: 2x HP & 4x ATK for Fire and Water Att.; 3x ATK when attacking with and ; Increase orb movement time by 2 seconds

Aside from having absolutely goregeous art, Barbara & Julie(Barb&Julie for short) have a nice leader skill and can be a good killer sub.

Barb&Julie’s leader skill is a color swap of Vraska from MTG collab, activating on instead of . Blue has two excellent RCV sticks in Mel and Mizutsune , making the 1x RCV easy to fix. Another option is a Kuroyuri system for the constant 40% auto heal, but that option is expensive in terms of monster points and takes up two active slots.

Having 6 killers on your leaders ruins damage control vs most absorb spawns, but it is great for damage output, especially with their high base attack. Their killers do miss out on the balance typed Hashihime , but that can be resolved by running You Yu as a sub. You could pair Barb&Julie with Jhoira , but higher bulk is more valuable than a 7×6 board when they are already very easy to activate on 6×5.

As subs Barb&Julie have high killer damage, but can be difficult to use if their long CD board change is undesirable. More specialized killer subs like Kiri will do much higher damage to specific types, but wider variety of killers means Barb&Julie usually does at least 3x to any given spawn. Dragon / Machine typing allows them to stack god, healer, and machine killer latents to further boost killer damage, with god being the most relevent in Alt Arena.

Their active is a bicolor board with defense break and unlock effects. Unlock is always practical to have, but defense break is more situational and mainly relevent for Gaia and Metatrons , where Barb&Julie’s killers means you likely won’t need more than a defense break + bicolor to kill. The secondary effects on this active makes the animation incredibly slow, making it unsuited for ranking dungeons.

Yog-Sothoth

ヨグ

[4787] Yog-Sothoth
真夏なるもの・ヨグ=ソトース

Devil / Dragon

Active Skill: Change all orbs to and orbs; Recover 40% of max HP; Reduce bind status by 4 turns (13 max CD)

Leader Skill: 6x ATK when above 80% HP; 3x ATK & RCV when below 79% HP; 3x ATK and reduce damage taken when matching 2 or more combos

Did you ever wish Yog wore a bikini and was a blue lead instead of a light lead? Well, here you go.

Beach Yog(Bog for short)’s leader skill is a color swap of L/x Yog , with the nice RCV bonus when under 80%. The most notable difference in subpool is that Yog has a much wider selection of VDP subs than Bog, though Revo Amon and Mega Awoken Blodin are both decent options. Aside from that they are mostly on even footing, with each being situationally better depending on dungeon mechanics.

Bog as a sub brings FUA, 7c, multiboost, and great weighted stats, including excellent HP. The presence of numerous other good blue FUA cards like Amatsu reduces Bog’s appeal, but his active is powerful for mono blue leaders, especially those with 4x HP but 1x RCV like Zapan and Revo Sarasvati .

4 Star

Ishikawa Goemon

Beach Goe is sought after for his farming uses, since he has 1 more than his farmable counterpart . It enables a few builds that would otherwise be short on but generally it’s just speed optimization as opposed to neccessity. He’s a common roll though, so if you have any interest in farming consider going for one or two copies.

Navi

Navi’s 3 and heart skyfall active suggests use as a RCV stick, but Mel does the same thing but better. Some teams may appreciate her though.

5 Star

Fuu

Kurone

These two do the same thing and said thing is being mostly useless. Autoheals may come in handy for some cheese teams, but Healer Odindra is available from MP shop and better.

6 Star

Urd

Her awakenings and stats are nothing special, so you will mostly find her as an inherit. The active is a decent tricolor with hearts but doesn’t come with any nice secondary effects.

Chester

Chester is an stick, but since he doesnt offer like some other options do, you might as well just use the farmable Raguel instead.

Meimei

Meimei isn’t a terrible green or blue OE sub, though the farmable Beach Almadel is better for green thanks to her low CD active (that enhances orbs too). Her active is pretty useless as it’s just a 3 color board without hearts, but the color combination is uncommon.

Lakshmi

Unlike her REM counterpart , Beach Lakshmi did not receive an overhaul to her awakenings and remains a mediocre sub. Her active skill did get the buff and it now heals significantly more HP, making it a useful button for HP conditional leaders like Zeus Verse , though the orb generation might be undesirable.

7 Star

Note: The 7 Stars (including beach valk) have roughly 1000 weighted stats at lv110.

Metatron
(SA: )

Beach Metatron is a functional bind clear but her lack of offensive awakenings and low HP makes her difficult to sub anywhere. She does have a and can obtain a second one through super awakenings, but there’s not much you can do to fix her lack of damage output.

Green Sonia
(SA: )

Beach Gronia’s active is excellent for farming and ranking dungeons as it’s a bicolor board with 2 turn haste, allowing actives to be recycled after using them earlier in the dungeon. She’s not particularly unique though, as Xmas Sonia also has a bicolor board and can be purchased from the MP shop when Xmas REM returns.

She gained some nice super awakenings that make her more useful as a sub. is appealing at first glance, but Beach Gronia’s typing isn’t the greatest in terms of killer latent selection. allows her to be utilized more consistently and a second helps with meeting HP thresholds.

Pandora
(SA: )

With super awakenings, Pandora can now get a second . She’s still not as strong as Paolumu as her typing does not allow stacking of latent healer killers, but unlike Paolumu she has 2 which can be vital in solo farming builds. is also a nice choice if you lack better options as dark FUA is still uncommon.

Tachibana Ginchiyo
(SA: )

Tachibana got a large buff and can now have 3 via super awakenings. Her stats and awakenings are much better than Aife , the only other blue triple 7c. Unfortunately both Tachibana and Aife are stuck with a bad killer latent selection. and are also decent choices, but choosing them over makes Tachibana just an average blue combo sub.

Artemis
(SA: )

Beach Artemis’s cooldown is reduced to 11 turns, which makes her easier to use as a sub instead of just an color absorb void inherit. She received another via super awakenings, bringing her damage to more respectable levels. Even then she be inherited more often than not.

8 Star

Note: Myr and Eschamali have roughly 1200 weighted stats at lv110, Fujin cannot be limit broken.

Myr
(SA: )

Unlike her farmable version , Beach Myr did not receive a new ult or any changes to her leader skill. She did get some nice super awakenings, including , but as said before blue has many good FUA cards and BMyr’s niche as a FUA sub with is more or less covered by Skuld who brings high personal damage too.

Her active is an incredibly useful inherit in farming. When used on a full board it creates enough orbs to make a VDP or FUA and adds a CTW effect which stops annoying spinners like those in Keela. She’s probably not worth 500k MP if you don’t farm a lot but a worthwhile purchase if you do. Note that BMyr does not work on full blue boards.

Eschamali
(SA: )

Having a BEscha in any blue team grants nice passive damage, but it’s just as easy to stack OE across subs with through cards like You Yu , Skuld , Acubens , etc. Her super awakenings can grant her some personal offensive awakenings or bind resist, but they are inconsequential overall.

Fujin
(SA: )

Beach Fujin’s new ult added about 100 more weighted stats, but all of it went into attack, leaving her HP as low as ever. A 3rd or unbindability from super awakenings are both nice and raises her sub potential but her active is often a dead weight in dungeons like AA where absorbs are only present for first half of dungeon.
Her REM counterpart’s sub evolution has very similar awakenings and better HP, but Blujin is a slightly stronger lead than the lead evolution . Trading for her might be worthwhile if inheritable damage absorb is the last major thing your box is missing.

Farmables

Notes: Awilda and Almadel invades the Beach dungeon, Claire is available in the MP shop and from Monthly quest.

Awilda

Awilda’s 4 are useful for resist cheese purposes but the blue PaDZ resist dragon has one more , very important when trying to achieve 100% resist.

Almadel

Almadel is useful for green farming for her OE awakenings and enhance active. Having off color OE is nice too, as it helps ensure at least 1 enhanced orb is on the board after a board change.

Valkyrie Claire
(SA: )

Beach Valk is relevant in farming for her 3 killers, especially in Machine Hera. Super awakenings aren’t relevant for coop farming but the ability to get stack another killer for any of her 3 killer types make Claire much better as a sub in solo/rankings. Since both evolutions have limit break, you will not lose limit break/super awakenings when switching forms.

Verdict

DO I ROLL?

Maybe go for a Goemon or two, but pretty much all other desirable rolls are in the 1.5%~2% tier.

DO I TRADE?

Bog, Barb&Julie, and Blujin are all useful to have but none of them are essential. I recommend picking up a BMyr from the MP shop for the active though.

Other Authors Invade!

[speech name=Reni]I think it’s obvious who I’d trade for… (Hint: my avatar) But certainly Fujin would be attractive to me if she had any buffs and if I didn’t already have 2 Fujins. On JP server I have rolled a lot in the past year. This year I rolled a few times but stopped after rolling Raijin, since the high diamond egg rate really comes from the 6* and 7* tiers, and most aren’t useful dupes to me.

If you already rolled enough in the past, just trade for what you really really REALLY see as waifu, or just trade for Fujin.[/speech]

  1. Hey, do you think its worth to trade my 2 gronias, kaede and skull for B&J? usually i run a yusuke or vraska team!

  2. Should i trade for beach fujin or yog. I can make a pretty good team with yog but i could also use fujin for dark metatron team(when new evo comes out)
