Prepare for Alt Grotesque Being – Learn the new tricks

Last time we learned about the differences in mechanics of the old spawns – It’s time to know more the spawns in AA3!

There are not a lot of new spawns in Alt Grotesque Being but all of them are very difficulty to deal with even if you are well prepared. You definitely want to know all key movesets of these new enemies that you have not seen in other dungeons before you take your first step into AA3.

F10 – Gilliam

  • HP – 50,000,000
  • DEF – 760

Preempts:

  • ★ [Preempts] 7 combo shield for 10 turns
  • ★ [Preempts] 2 x 0.5s spinners at random location for 10 turns

The preempts pose an absurd challenge to almost any teams. You are almost not likely to kill him (unless skyfall) without using some +combo or lock orb active. And even if you do so you still have to deal with the lingering spinner effect. My advice is pray for skyfall instead of burning actives to get pass her.

Movesets:

  • [10th turn] 75% shield & Skill delay 10 turn
  • [< 50%, once] 70831 damage, No skyfall for 5 turns, Top & bottom rows to poison, Middle row to Mortal Poison,
  • [< 10% HP] 177075 damage, change all orbs to Wood and Dark
  • [Normal] 59205 damage, Change one color to Wood
  • [Normal] 70830 damage, 3 hits
  • [Normal] 64928 damage, lock Wood and Dark orbs

If you decide to stall, mind that his normal movesets damage ranges from 59k to 70k and can potentially remove hearts. On 10th turn, he will put up a 75% shield and make sure you deal enough damage to oneshot him.

F10 – Zweihander

  • HP – 60,000,000
  • DEF – 800

Preempts:

  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • ★ [Preempts, repeats when effect ends] For 2 turns, absorb Fire/Water/Wood damage (random 1 out of 3)
  • [Preempts, repeats when effect ends] 57360 damage. For 2 turns, Fire/Water/Wood orbs becomes unmatchable
    • If she absorbs Fire, then Water orbs become unmatchable
    • If she absorbs Water, then Wood orbs become unmatchable
    • If she absorbs Wood, then Fire orbs become unmatchable

If you are running a Fire, Water or Wood team, good luck on your subattribute management and/or leader pairing. For example if your lead’s attribute is Wood/Fire (like KomasanS), all three sets of absorb/unmatchable can shut down your team if you don’t have a countermeasure.

Don’t underestimate her even if you are running a Light or Dark team, mind your subattribute damage. Pay extra attention if your leads requires two different colors to activate. If you are running rainbow you are basically dead if you haven’t think about your counter beforehand.

Movesets:

  • ★★ [At full HP] 74568 damage, Awoken bind for 1 turn, Heart orbs become unmatchable, high priority
  • [<50%] Increases damage to 150%, 99% gravity, high priority
  • [<10% HP] 400% gravity
  • [Normal] 54492 damage, blind board
  • [Normal]  57360 damage, bind 1 card for 5 turns
  • ★ [Normal] 9 combo shield for 1 turn

While stalling, the 9c shield could easily bring her back to 100% if your lead requires combo to stay alive and triggers the awoken bind, a strong hit and unmatchable hearts for the next turn.

Unmatchable status will greatly reduce your combo on board and limiting leads with combo activated shields. A well timed board active can be a countermeasure.

One way to deal with Zweihander is bring her to full HP and take the 75k hit at your second turn, recover awoken bind and try to kill her since the full HP moveset takes higher priority than the absorb/unmatchable combo. However this tactic might not be doable depending on your team’s subattribute damage or activation criteria.

F18 – Kunpoo

  • HP – 500,000,000
  • DEF – 4,440

Preempts:

  • Halves fire damage taken
  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • [Preempts] 50mil void shield
  • ★ [Preempts] 9 combo shield x 1 turn
  • [90% Resolves]

Simple enough you either ensure a way to get 10 combo and a follow up attack or learn his movesets.

Movesets:

  • ★ [1st turn] 7 combo shield x 99 turns
  • ★ [1st turn] 1 x 0.5s spinner at a random spot for 3 turns
  • [1st turn] 52785 damage, fix starting location
  • ★★ [At full HP, repeat] Reduce MAX HP by 50% for 1 turn, then deals 58064 damage.
  • [75% HP or 10th turn] 58064 damage; Reduce TE by 2 secs for 99 turns; Reduce MAX HP by 50% for 1 turn, then deals 58064 damage.
  • [50% HP or 10th turn] Awoken bind for 10 turns, 2x damage for 999 turns
  • [Normal] 52785 damage, fix starting location, 1 x 0.5s spinner at a randomly location for 3 turns
  • [<10% HP] Randomly change attribute, 791775 damage, 5 hits

WIth a 7c shield, a random spinner and without a guaranteed kill board, it is easy to trigger to full HP moveset. Keep in mind that HP locks are only removed after enemies turn, thus she will do a lesser hit (57286) if you keep her at 100% or triggered the 75% marks during HP lock. Strongly advise not to grind her down because of the long awoken bind and TE debuff. Deal moderate damage to remove her resolves at 90% then go for a kill shot from there.

She only has one normal movesets so it is easy to anticipate upcoming hit. The main challenge would be doing a 8c VDP set up.

F18 – Unma

  • HP – 450,000,000
  • DEF – 4,440

Preempts:

  • Halves water damage taken
  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • [Preempts] 25mil void shield for 999 turns
  • ★ [Preempts] 72828 damage, for 1 turn random one attribute orbs become unmatchable
  • [90% Resolves]

Again it’s asking for a remove unmatchable active. But even if you do not oneshot him on the first turn he is not hard to deal with.

Movesets:

  • [<50% HP] 15 Blind orbs x 5 turns, 2×5 Cloud for 10 turns
  • [<10% HP] Remove all buff, 971040 damage, 4 hits
  • [Every other turns] 72828 damage, for 1 turn random one attribute orbs become unmatchable
  • [Normal] Left and Rightmost column to Jammer, Poison and Water, Halves damage taken, 60690 damage, 2 hits
  • [Normal] Top and Bottom row to Jammer, Poison and Water, Binds 2 subs for 1~2 turns, 60690 damage, 2 hits

Can be easily grinded down while waiting for a good RNG on the unmatchables. Even if you don’t have poison resist (trust me, it’s pretty useless in AA3) the normal movesets should pose any issues if you have come to far. Every other turn you should have a free board for a kill shot. Pretty mild spawn amongst the 5.

F18 – Rokks

  • HP – 250,000,000
  • DEF – 13,800,000

The true boss in AA3.

Preempts:

  • Halves wood damage taken
  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • [Preempts] 25mil void shield for 999 turns
  • [Preempts] Spawn 6 locked bombs
  • ★★★ [Preempts] Randomly switch one of your sub to leader for 8 turns
  • [90% Resolves]

You are most likely dead if Rokks spawns.

The leader switch is very dangerous. For example a lot of utilities cards doesn’t even have a half good leader skill. However in AA3, you are not in a position that you can cherry-pick a functionaly sub with a strong leader skills for Rokks. On top of that he has a badly programmed (?) moveset which makes him obnoxiously hard to deal with comparing to his pals.

That aside he doesn’t have a status shield at above 50%. Your delay skills might come in handy while stalling.

Movesets:

  • [<20%] Randomly switch one of your sub to leader for 8 turns, then deals 1539000 damage, 9 hits.
  • [<50%, or 8th turn] 50% shield, 999 turns status shield
  • ★★★ [Every 2 turns] Spawn 6 locked bombs, 25mil void shield, randomly switch one of your sub to leader for 8 turns
    • Will normal hit 57000 if already has a void shield (which is obvious)
    • Will normal hit 57000 if leader is already switched (which is also obvious)
  • [Normal] 62700 damage, 4 hits, bind 2 cards for 1~2 turns
  • [Normal] 59850 damage, 4 hits, skill delay 1~2 turns
  • [Normal] 57000 damage, lock 15 orbs.

The normal moves damage are rather low however the kind-of-bugged moveset is the killer. Every 2 turns he will hit 114000 (57000 x 2) because he tries to repeats his preempts void shield and leader swap (and obviously he couldn’t). Depending on your leader switches you are mostly not going to survive. If you have enough effective HP and able to heal up than congratulations.

Currently there is no effective counter. Luck is all you got against Rokks.

F18 – Whippe

  • HP – 400,000,000
  • DEF – 4,400

Preempts:

  • Halves light damage taken
  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • [Preempts] 25mil void shield for 999 turns
  • ★ [Preempts] 90% shield for 4 turns
  • [90% Resolves]

The preempt shield puts her to 4bil HP. You are aiming for 2 damage capped VDP cards (4 if you are running Light team) to oneshot her.

Movesets:

  • [<15%, once] Blind board, Tape top and bottom row
  • [<15%] 420240 damage, change all orbs to light
  • Sequence

Sequence: [1] [2] [3a-d] [3a-d] [3a-d] (repeat)

  • ★ [1] 42024 damage, Awoken binds for 2 turns
  • [2] 42024 damage, 3×2 Cloud for 4 turns
  • [3a] Remove all buff
  • [3b] Fix players HP to 50000, then deals 47277 damage, 3 hits
  • [3c] 42024 damage, Reduce RCV by 50% for 2 turns
  • [3d] 44125 damage, Randomly change attribute

First of all she has a one turn grace enrage so you can go all out every turns. You at least have to deal with the [1] [2] moveset once in the sequence to stall out the 90% shield. Having an awoken unbind here could help but not necessary. Not annoying to stall but not advised for a prolonged fight because of the mix of Awoken bind, Cloud and RCV reduction.

F18 – Zebun

  • HP – 600,000,000
  • DEF – 4,400

Preempts:

  • Halves dark damage taken
  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield
  • [Preempts] 60mil void shield for 999 turns
  • ★ [Preempts] 60% Mortal Poison Skyfall for 1 turn
  • [90% Resolves]

Just make 0c on the first turn. Don’t try to test your luck because 60% skyfall is horrible.

Movesets:

  • [<10%] 464400 damage, change board to Mortal Poisons, 75% reduction in TE for 1 turn
  • [Must use, once] 17415 damage, 75% shield x 1 turn, 15% Poison skyfall x 30 turns
  • [<50%, once] 87075 damage, Bind all cards for 5 turns, change board to Mortal Poisons
  • [Normal] 75465 damage, Super blind 3 orbs
  • [Normal] 78369 damage, 3 hits

If you have enough HP, consider stalling for another turn to get rid of the 75% shield for a cleaner kill shot. There is nothing really dangerous to take care of, he won’t even spawn poison orbs. Consider yourself a easy win if you happen to meet him.

F20 – Gaslo

  • HP – 70,000,000
  • DEF – 1,440

The only reason you are here farming AA3.

He first hosts a puzzle game you have to go through unless you can do 7bil damage (more than 3 cards damage capped) on the first turn. After the puzzle game he becomes “vulnerable” and can be killed normally.

Puzzle game:

  • [Preempts] 999 turns Status shield, 5 turns 99% damage shield, 10% poison and jammer skyfall x 5 turns
  • [Turn 1] No damage, randomly two attributes become unmatchable
  • [Turn 2] No damage, randomly two attributes become unmatchable
  • [Turn 3] No damage, randomly two attributes become unmatchable
  • [Turn 4] No damage, randomly two attributes become unmatchable
  • ★★ [Turn 5] 1 turn Awoken bind, 1 turn Skill bind; Randomly spawn 10 Fire, Dark and Mortal Poison; 2 x 0.5s spinners at random location for 1 turn
  • [Turn 6] 3105000 damage if Mortal Poison on board, change Mortal Poison to Hearts

For the first 5 turns you can choose to stall and charge up skills or just 0 combo and let the sequences goes to avoid poison/jammer skyfall. It’s strongly advised to heal up during this phrase. On your 6th turn, you will be given a board with 10 Mortal Poisons and your objective is to get rid of all the Mortal Poisons under Awoken and Skill bind.

Since matching all Mortal poisons will deal enough damage to kill you, the intended way is to make use of the spinners to get rid of the Mortal Poisons. You can only match 1 combo of mortal poison and up to 6 connected mortal poisons (87.5% hp damage) in order to survive at full HP and have use the spinner to change the others to normal orbs.

There are more ways to not go through the intended way but they don’t necessarily make things easier. If you encountered Azathoth and kept the orb locked debuff, you can skip the entire puzzle game since he is unable to spawn poison orbs. 2 turns void shield like Raphael or Genie, or even leader change to resolve are hard counter if you really hate playing the game. Oneshotting him on first turn is also possible if you can manage to pull off 7bil damage.

Once it is over he will become a normal enemy with a low-ish void shield and hp with a generic movesets. Shouldn’t be a problem if you have come so far.

Moveset:

  • [Turn 6] 8mil void shield x 999 turns, 10% poison skyfall x 99 turns
  • 62100 damage, 4 secs TE debuff
  • 62100 damage, 50% shield for 1 turn
  • 74520 damage, 4 hits
  • [<10%] Randomly change attribute except to Light, 4347000 damage, 10 hits
