PAD Gold on Nintendo Switch – Details Released, Plus English Site!
The upcoming PAD title on Nintendo Switch… now has an English site, minus the Japanese commercial!

Puzzle & Dragons GOLD will be available on Nintendo Switch starting January 15, 2020, and is digital download only (no physical copy). The game will cost 1,500 yen or US$14.99 depending on region.
What’s interesting to see is that English and Japanese are listed as supported languages! (Why isn’t mobile PAD like this grumble grumble)
Local and multiplayer online play (up to 2 players) are possible, though online battles do require Nintendo Switch Online.
Also noteworthy is there are no in-app purchases available, and is a very kids-friendly game. Quoting from the FAQ: There are no charges beyond the game software’s purchase price.
The battles
Looks better than the CoroCoro images. The team display is quite nice, and has quite a PAD Radar feel (minus the lag)!
Story Mode (Single Player)
As we knew already, there will be the main story line with characters from the PAD anime! Go for the Champion Cup with Taiga Akashi or Ryuji!
Puzzle & Dragons Academy
Even people who have never played mobile PAD can learn how to make combos! Or well, current players can learn new tricks too! Too bad we don’t see actual Academy cards (I wanted to see Academy Lucifer), but there is a new robot (Teppan G) instead.
More screens
The interface has more of a PADZ (Nintendo 3DS game) feel with Divine Gate color schemes. The awoken skills are done in PAD Radar style (even with the R/SR/UR (Rare/Super Rare/Ultra Rare) system)!!

The commercial showcased more footage of the game!
Best to watch the video, but it does showcase the PAD board (graphics actually look pretty nice, but personally it’s a bit too high contrast and hurts my eyes over time). There are of course some faces we recognize, and are also voiced.
Also that familiar Gold Dragon is there. There are no in-app purchases in PAD Gold, so good luck to us!
Will I buy it? Probably, the price is pretty fair. Perhaps I will see you guys online in battles if you’re buying the game!

What PAD anime? That isn’t PAD cross.
The “new” (ish) PAD anime about PAD championships. New episodes are posted once a week on the official PAD JP Youtube channel, and are up for a week before deleted/made private. I think Reni made a post about it a while back.
Indeed, the original post was one of the first few posts in the blog! Also the most current Radar dragons (Kunpoo and friends) are all from the current anime! 😀
Daaaaamn although i would really buy it if it was all 2d (cuz it’ll basically be an anime game) but the voices seem really amazing with it.
I mean, imagine PAD Adventures w/ 2d animation throughout and designed like an anime

That is right. The two are unrelated. While Puzzle and Dragons X had an anime made after the game, Puzzle and Dragons Gold is a game made after an anime. They also both take place in different universes. This one is more akin to real life, and PAD actually being a game.
