[Misc] R.I.P. Another GungHo Game: Disney Magic Kingdoms
Yet another GungHo game will disappear – This time, a magical Disney one, due to the end of a contract.
The magical Tweet
Disney Magic Kingdoms started in October 2016 with iOS and Android versions, and is a game on building your own Disney theme park. The game wasn’t doing too bad, just going slightly downhill in terms of sales. Here’s the grossing sales rank posted at PAD Blog, where I originally caught on this news:
Official site suggests that the contract with an app developer (Gameloft in France) ended, hence the closure of the game. We would never know if that’s the true reason, but it’s still sad to see the end of a magical journey for some.
The game will officially end on 5/30 (Thu) 11am and will be removed from app stores. Support the website will be removed completely on 8/28 (Wed) 11am.
What GungHo mobile games are left?
This really makes us wonder, what games do GungHo run still, aside from PAD? We watched quite a few games disappear since the blog started, including:
- Calcio Fantasista (the soccer game) – Nov. 29, 2018
- Divine Gate Zero – Dec. 11, 2018
- Seventh Rebirth – Mar. 1, 2019
In terms of mobile games, GungHo is down to 7 games, though not necessarily bad. I’d rather they focus on improving the games than making more. Quality of content is important!
- Yo-kai Watch World
- Chrono Ma:Gia
- Puzzle and Dragons Radar
- Summons Board
- Dokuro
- Princess Punt
- Puzzle and Dragons
(Now bring me all those collabs from Divine Gate to PAD and I’ll be even happier :D)
At least we were given some reason why the game ended, unlike some others…
