Counter-type skills deal damage to enemies after they attack. Note that this is very different from Bonus Attack, which deals damage directly after matching orbs but before the enemy attack.

Order: Orbs Matched Enemy Attacks Counterattack

Active Skill

Quite a number of cards in PAD deal damage via counterattack in the game; here are some examples.

Card Leader skill

Astaroth
(and most Archdemons )
For 4 turns, 3x Wood counterattack; Change Fire orbs to Wood orbs

Lotta Lotta
Change all orbs to Water, Wood, Light, and Dark orbs; For 1 turn, 100x Light counterattack

Super Reincarnated Anubis
For 4 turns, 5x Dark counterattack; Change Wood, Jammer, Poison, and Mortal Poison orbs to Dark orbs

Leader Skill

Counter-type leader skills are rare (as of this time). Note that these are different from leader skills dealing Bonus Attack (such as Vajrayaksa and Hino Kagutsuchi ). A few examples include:

Card Leader skill

Flamme, the Burst of Crimson Gear
5x ATK when below 50% HP; 2x HP & ATK for Fire Att.; 10x Fire counterattack

Vivi
5x ATK and 2x HP for Dark Att.; Increase orb movement time by 2 seconds; 10x Dark counterattack

Top Droidragon
25% chance to counterattack with 10x Wood damage

Fun Fact: Combined Active + Leader Skill Counterattack

Regardless of source (Active Skill or Leader Skill), counterattacks will combine if they are of the same attribute.

For example, a 500,000 Fire Att. counterattack from a leader skill effect and a 500,000 Fire Att. counterattack from an active skill effect will actually combine into a single hit of 1,000,000 damage. This counterattack would kill an enemy with 750,000 defense, for example. However, if one of those counterattacks was a different attribute, two separate counterattacks would occur instead, with each dealing 1 damage to the aforementioned enemy.

Examples

Below are tests done in Endless Corridors, where Flamie has 2 defense.

1) A 10x Fire Att. counterattack and a 10x Dark Att. counterattack; each should do 110 damage but are both reduced by defense (DEF = 2):

2) Two Fire Att. counterattacks that combine and are thus only affected once by defense:
